  1. Walking down a street in Ottawa yesterday and stopped by the sound of a busker banging out American Pie. My world paused for five minutes while I sang along and the memories flooded by. Thank you busker, thank you Buddy H, but mostly thank you Don Mclean. Your presence has made this world a warmer place. May you live long and happily.

  2. My father passed this week, he loved Don, we grew up as children listening to Don on LP’s, and Dad playing all his songs on his guitar! At 4 years old I went to my first Don McLean concert in the U.K. with dad, when asking for song requests on stage I put my hand up, Don picked me out, I got on stage and asked for Vincent and Wonderful Baby. Then you invited you invited Dad and I to your limo after and signed my programme. I’ve had such comfort from listening to your songs since he left us, and wanted to thank you for your genius, dad loved you, and so do we.
